Romeo Palamides, an early drag racing innovator, designed and crafted leading edge, high strength-to-weight magnesium or American Racing mags drag racing wheels for his dragster. American Racing Wheels has been in business since 1956.
In the early years of american racing, hot rodding and street racing interest in the lightweight, higher tech wheels was overwhelming. Romeo's vision, working from a small machine shop in San Francisco with his partner, engineer Jim Ellison, evolved into America's leading aftermarket wheel company. In 1956, they formed American Racing Equipment and manufactured the first american racing wheel. These first american racer wheels are called American Racing Vintage.
In the early 1960's the 5 spoke American Racing "Torq Thrust" was introduced. This wheel started the custom wheel craze
and can still be found at one of our Custom Wheel n Rims Sponsors. American Racing rims quickly became the racers choice. Today they are one of the largest aftermarket and original equipment wheel manufacturers in the world. Up for auction is a set of four (4) 20x8.5 American Racing Dale Earnhardt Jr. Signature Series "Tank" model wheels, each signed by Dale Jr. himself. The wheels were signed prior to being clear coated, so the signatures are permanent and indelible. These wheels are truly one of a kind collectables! 100% of the proceeds from this auction will be donated to The Dale Jr. Foundation Charity so open your wallets and bid high for this unique Dale Jr. collectable.
The wheels, clear coated to protect Earnhardt's signatures, are lug patterned and backspaced to fit 2006 or newer GM trucks and SUVs (AR Part No. 33328538A, 6x5.5 Bolt Circle +30 offset - see American Racing's application guide for vehicle fitment information; you can also view these wheels on your car with the American Racing Carfigurator). The “Tank” model is the most popular wheel in American's Dale Earnhardt Jr. Signature Series line, which features a black chrome finish, and enhances the custom look of any vehicle.
