Checking out the latest catalog of 20, 22 or 24 big wheels and rims only to find they don't make them in a size or offset to fit your car or truck? Wheel Spacers and Adapters are two different products offered by many manufactures for use on Boyd Byod Coddington, American Eagle and Crager Wheels.
Wheel Spacers
A spacer is a disc that will slide over your studs and bring your wheel out by as much as 1/4 inch. Anything more than this is unsafe. For greater thicknesses, the wheel studs are seriously weakened. Spacers are engineered to adjust offsets, not to change bolt patterns.
Wheel Adapters
A wheel adapter changes the bolt pattern of your vehicle's hub and moves the wheel out allowing you to use custom wheels for most cars, trucks SUV and off-road 4X4. By using a wheel adapter with the same lug pattern as your original, you can push the distance of your wheels out. They bolt directly to the wheel studs and space the tire/wheel combination away from tie rod ends and body parts.

What Are the Pros and Cons Regarding Spacers and Adapters?
In most cases, using a spacer of greater than 3mm thickness or an adapter means you will be using a wheel that was not designed to fit your vehicle! Unless you get the advice of a professional, this is trouble that almost always leads to excessive wear on suspension parts, poor ride and potential mechanical failure. In the vast majority of applications, we do not recommend the use of these devices. Locate the right custom wheel for your vehicle from one of our Custom Wheels n Rims Sponsors.
